Rivicore recently completed a Dynamic Probe Super Heavy (DPSH) test at the historic Kyalami Castle. The access to the testing area was extremely limited, requiring us to partially strip our rig just to reach the site. Despite the challenges, we successfully performed DPSH testing to help guide future geotechnical investigations.

DPSH provides a continuous soil resistance profile from the surface to refusal, giving engineers early insights into subsurface conditions. It’s a cost-effective, fast, and compact method—ideal for preliminary assessments. While it doesn’t offer direct soil strength values, it highlights changes in soil consistency and helps identify rock layers early on.
This project highlights the adaptability of our team and equipment, especially in tight or unusual spaces where conventional rigs may not work.
