Rivicore recently completed a geotechnical drilling investigation on Doreen Road in Rustenburg, where the road has been showing signs of structural failure. Our objective was to determine the underlying causes of the instability as part of the first phase of rehabilitation for this critical roadway.
To conduct the investigation safely and accurately, we closed one lane of the road to drill directly in the carriageway—there was no alternative drilling space available. Our team drilled three boreholes under challenging conditions, including excessive groundwater loss and unpredictable weather.
Despite the difficulties, the Rivicore team completed the work successfully while maintaining strict safety standards and minimizing traffic disruption.
We’re proud to have contributed to the early stages of restoring Doreen Road and hope that residents in the area will soon enjoy a fully rehabilitated and safe route.
